Dr. Jeff Kindred
- Dr. Kindred is the first non-surgical sports medicine physician in Sumner County
- Completed his medical school at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Kirksville, Mo.
- Completed his residency at Saint Joseph Family Medicine, South Bend, Ind.
- Completed a sports medicine fellowship at the University of Notre Dame
- Board certified in both family and sports medicine
Dr. Kindred’s special areas of interest include injury prevention, concussion management, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, platelet-rich plasma therapy and ultrasound-guided injections. While working as a team physician at the University of Notre Dame, he received additional training in the Functional Movement Screen, which is being studied to help predict pre-season injury risk.
His previous experience includes event and training room coverage in both men’s and women’s sports at University of Notre Dame, including men’s football, basketball, soccer, hockey and boxing, women’s soccer, and cross country/track and field.
He is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Family Physicians.

BodyGuard Sports Medicine is a comprehensive sports medicine program focused on the treatment and prevention of sports injuries in athletes of all ages. In accordance with the National Athletic Trainers' Association, our mission is to enhance the quality of health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity and to advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
BodyGuard Sports Medicine not only provides athletic training to student athletes in eight area schools, but the program also provides our communities access to award-winning wound care services, comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services at both Sumner Regional Medical Center and Sumner Station.
The school athletics program of BodyGuard Sports Medicine provides a vital community service to student athletes in five area schools. The schools we serve include:

- Portland High School
- Westmoreland High School
- Trousdale County High School
- Red Boiling Spring High School
- Macon County High School & Jr. High School
- Volunteer State Community College
Athletic training services are provided through a partnership with the Sumner County Board of Education, Macon County Board of Education and the Trousdale County Board of Education and are overseen by Dr. Jeff Kindred, Medical Director of BodyGuard Sports Medicine, and Angela Alexander, Community Outreach Director for HighPoint Health System.
Every BodyGuard athletic trainer has been certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification.
